The company has announced that they have made changes to their algorithm which will now prioritise better conversations in users' feeds. LinkedIn uses the maxim of 'people you know, talking about things you care about&rsquo; as its framework. So now the company wants to filter out all the garbage and fill users news feeds with all the good stuff.
Users are prioritised by a filtering system which includes how they interact with one another directly, such as co-workers, and information on profiles to spark interests and common experiences.
"Despite the rumours, the algorithm doesn&rsquo;t favour any particular format," LinkedIn noted. If you want to stand out amongst the crowd then do not use more than three hashtags and do not mention more than five other users in a post, it will make you look less like a spammer, so basically, just be yourself.
"Authenticity is key," wrote Pete Davies, consumer product at LinkedIn in a post announcing the changes. "All the tips work out better when members talk about things they truly care about, in a way that&rsquo;s natural for them. Genuine conversation around real experiences spark better and deeper conversation. Better conversation, in turn, leads to stronger community and connection."
To sum it all up, LinkedIn has now created an element which will reward content creators on its platform, as opposed to just showing you the most engaging content to maximise response. This will encourage more activity from users across the broad, and make LinkedIn a more engaging and active place for discussion.

More and more brands are moving towards Instagram and engaging more with the rising use of Stories as well as the social platform's shift into eCommerce. So, might this be a reason for the overall Instagram engagement drop?
Well, let's consider the following. Instagram had around 25 million active business accounts in late 2017, and since then,&nbsp;Instagram has not reported any official update to that number, but if you had to think about it, it is now significantly higher in numbers. So if you take all this into account, plus brands seeking attention in feeds, as well as engagement on their branded content, surely the overall has to decline?
Instagram has this term called 'Shadowban' which refers to users accounts getting blocked by moderators, and the worst&nbsp;part of it all is that you might not even know that it is happening to your account. Instagram is also cracking down on "bots" and services that automatically post, like and comment on your behalf. It is a good thing because it gets rid of spam, but there is a downside to it. Instagram has been penalising accounts who are not necessarily breaking any of these rules.
The penalising issue involves accounts' content being removed from the hashtag categorisation, and if you heavily rely on hashtags to reach your target audience, well this might be the biggest reason why you are seeing the vast drop in engagements.
According to Trust Insight, who is a marketing data and consulting firm, the overall engagement across Instagram is down and has been sharply declining since May 2019. They analysed over 1.4 million Instagram posts from the beginning of January to the middle of June. The key findings of the study show that as of mid-April, the maximum average engagement rate for the accounts included in the study was 1.54%, and the minimum engagement rate was 0.8% in June 2019.]]>

          <![CDATA[Before we begin, let's make one thing clear, Facebook's cryptocurrency is not a new Bitcoin, in fact, far from it. Libra is more like Disney Dollars for an online ecosystem where users will be able to make purchases on Facebook and on other websites online.
Facebook has sought out and continues to seek funding from companies to help develop the already year-long project, these members also known as the 'Libra Association' have already been joined by major platforms like Booking.com, MercadoLibre, Uber, Visa, Mastercard and PayPal&nbsp;and, as we all know, these are all gigantic players in the online industry.
So what is the actual difference between Bitcoin and Libra? Well, for one, it comes down to the one being a centralised cryptocurrency and the other being decentralised. Bitcoin is decentralised, with not just one entity able to take control over its blockchain or the transactions that take place on it, whereas Libra is centralised. Another major difference is that Libra does not require users to have a bank account or credit card in order to own any Libra crypto, users will be allowed to exchange a currency called 'Fiat' to buy and sell Libra to use in online transactions.
So what makes Libra what it is? The main functions are those of the 'Libra Association' and the Libra Reserve. The Libra Association is responsible for running the Validator nodes which makes checks on transactions proving them verified or unverified. The Libra Reserve is a pool of money provided by founding members with the prospect of a return on their investments via dividends from the low-yield investment of the reserves assets.
How is Facebook involved? Libra is Facebook's creation, literally.&nbsp;Facebook developed most of the codebase for Libra, however, the company insists that it will serve as a regular Libra Association member, without being accorded any special authority or privilege. Essentially, Facebook vows it will only get one vote, like every other member. Whether Facebook will have an equal share in the Validator nodes, though, is unclear, but since Facebook likely has the greatest computing power of any of the partners, it would most likely host the most Validator nodes.
The first half of Libra is said to be launched in 2020, however, congressional democrats have demanded Facebook halt its rollout until they weigh in on the implementation; The house financial service committee wrote in a letter to Facebook's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, &ldquo;Because Facebook is already in the hands of over a quarter of the world&rsquo;s population, it is imperative that Facebook and its partners immediately cease implementation plans until regulators and Congress have an opportunity to examine these issues and take action,&rdquo; the lawmakers wrote in the letter. &ldquo;During this moratorium, we intend to hold public hearings on the risks and benefits of cryptocurrency-based activities and explore legislative solutions. Failure to cease implementation before we can do so risks a new Swiss-based financial system that is too big to fail.&rdquo;
So far, a Libra hearing on July 16th will be a help where Zuckerberg is expected to testify.
